We're Just Dancin'

I wrote this baby in Texas as well. I was so happy, y'all.

I was working as a Marine Wildlife Biologist during an internship with Texas Parks & Wildlife Department of Coastal Fisheries (thanks to CCA and Texas A&M Galveston). I would work in SE Texas and out on The Gulf of Mexico during the week, and then drive back to Louisiana to sing and dance on the weekends. I was just dancin'! I wrote this little groove from a happy place.

I wrote some of it in my head while riding out on the skiffs, and some of it in my bunk at the JD Murphree WMA on my old Epiphany Hummingbird.

**The line "My voice is gone from treading in the water all week long" is true! I had caught a nasty sinus infection after a sampling adventure in the Sabine Bay. It was cold and raining. I'll never forget it because I was out with Kirk Blood, whom I really look up to. I call him the walking encyclopedia. Anyway, we were sampling the Bay with seine nets. I went on the deep side and the first pull onto the beach revealed at least TWENTY BULL SHARKS! I had been in the water up to my neck full of bull sharks!

This was my first major radio play by Whispering Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2.

"It all seems to come together on this track, Sara. I love it" - Whispering Bob

written by: Sara Douga

This ole world spins too fast

I think I'd rather let its pass me by

Pass me by

Cause this ole world loves to run

And my feet are tired and I guess the war is won

The flag is drawn

I'm just a little Cajun girl

But you make me happy to we'll give it a whirl

And that's enough

Cause life is a dance and we're just dancin'

Love is a chance and we're just chancin'

We'll keep the world at bay with love and romancin'

Life is a dance and we're just dancin'

I've been wanting here lately to sing you a song

But my heart is worn and my voice is gone from treading

in the water all week long

Don't you think it's finally time

We let our hearts rest just yours and mine?

Yours and mine.

Cause people, they love to talk

But we're smiling bigger with every waltz

And that's enough

Cause life is a dance and we're just dancin'

Love is a chance and we're just chancin'

We'll keep the world at bay with love and romancin'

Life is a dance and we're just dancin'

Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm

I don't care if no one understands

What's between this woman and this man

It happened by simple chance

And baby you know I love to dance

Love to dance...

And life is a dance and we're just dancin'

Love is a chance and we're just chancin'

We'll keep the world at bay with love and romancin'

Life is a dance and we're just dancin'

Oh, life is a dance and we're just dancin'

Left : Me and Jamey Beard with High Performance at Pelican Park for The Mercredi Show.

Right: Sabine Bay from the Texas side, taken from my phone the day it rained on us while seining bull sharks.

Both of these were taken right around the time I wrote this song.

I love Y'all
